SS-Untersturmführer Graber joined the Waffen-SS in September of 1940 and was eventually posted to 12.Kompanie, SS-Deutschland, as a mortarman.

Took part in the invasion of Yugoslavia and Russia.  Promoted to SS-Sturmmann in September of 1941 after SS-Deutschland suffered heavy casualties during the drive into Russia.  Promoted to SS-Rottenfuhrer in November of 1942 and then took part in the battles to recapture Kharkov.

Identified as an officer candidate just after the Kharkov battles and sent to SS-Junkerschule Bad Tölz in April of 1943.  Comissioned as a SS-Untersturmführer in late March of 1944 and posted to I Battalion Stabs, SS-PzGrenRgt 2.
