LSSAH Veteran Unterscharfuhrer
Josef Steinbauer
We have been contacted by the son of a former Waffen-SS Unterscharfuehrer.  His son has told his father about our unit here in the USA & his father is proud that we have not forgotten the sacrifice & hardships that the men of the Leibstandarte had endured during WW2.  Unscha. Steinbauer has authorized our unit to post his biography & his unpublished fotos for all to see.  Unsterscharfuehrer Steinbauer is a remarkable man that has seen extensive combat on all fronts during WW2.  We are proud to be able to post his information & fotos on our website!

Josef Steinbauer was born on 18.Nov. 1921 and joined the Waffen-SS in 1939 at the Age of 17.  He was posted to Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler Regiment & fought in France (during the invasion), Russia, Italy, Yugoslavia, & Belgium.  He was also posted to the Reichs Chancellry as a guard as well as the Fuerher bunker in Berlin during the last 4 weeks of the war.  Upon Germany's unconditional surrender, he escaped Berlin & attempted to return home but was captured by the Russians outside of Berlin.  Fifteen days later he escaped & managed to return to Germany where he was once again captured, this time by the Americans.  After serving his time in prison camp, he returned to his wife & started a family.  He resides in western Germany to this day!

Unscha. Steinbauer is a remarkable man indeed & we are honored to portray his division & wear the Armelband "Adolf Hitler"!
Under no circumstances are these fotos to be copied or used without the permission of either Unscha. Steinbauer or his family!!
